NCWL Philanthropies

For the 2018-2019 year, North Central Women’s League has partnered with the following philanthropies. In addition to providing the services listed below, NCWL hopes to raise monies to provide these organizations with much needed items such as toiletries, food and school supplies. Our organization hopes that in the next few years we will also be able to provide scholarships to high school students.

Amanda Hope Rainbow Angel’s

Amanda Hope Rainbow Angel’s was founded in 2013 in celebration of Amanda Hope’s life when she lost her battle against Leukemia. Its mission is to bring comfort to children suffering from cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Our compassionate NCWL members will volunteer at Phoenix Children’s Hospital to assist Amanda Hope Rainbow Angel’s with spa-day manicures, food preparation, care packs and crafts.

Desert Mission Food Bank

The goal of Desert Mission Food Bank is to provide necessary resources to help individuals and families achieve food security. Desert Mission offers free and reduced cost food programs, nutrition education, emergency food services and resource and referral services. North Central Women’s League will schedule volunteers to help sort and pack food at the Sunnyslope location.

ElderTLC is a Phoenix based nonprofit distributing meaningful gifts to low income residents in neighboring senior care facilities during the holiday season. By distributing gifts, ElderTLC wants their recipients to know that they are remembered and their community cares.

Native American Connections

Since 1972, Native American Connections has sought to improve the lives of over 10,000 individuals and families through Native American culturally appropriate behavioral health, affordable housing, and community development services at one of its 18 sites operating throughout Central Phoenix. North Central Women’s League will assist Native American Connection by organizing volunteers to prepare and serve meals to individuals and families residing at the 16th street location.

St. Vincent de Paul – Dining Room

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is dedicated to feeding, clothing, housing and healing individuals and families in our community who have no where else to turn for help. As important, SVdP provides meaningful opportunities for volunteers to serve their neighbors in need with love and compassion.

Sunnyslope School

Sunnyslope School is a Title One school in the Washington Elementary School District, which serves over 800 pre-kindergarten through eighth grade children in the Sunnyslope and North Mountain neighborhood. North Central Women’s League will provide teacher and office assistance along with reading and comprehension tutoring.

The Cinderella Affair

The Cinderella Affair provides high school junior and senior girls new and gently-used formal wear, including dresses, shoes, and accessories. In Spring 2016, approximately 1200 girls from the greater Phoenix area took advantage of this affair. This year, volunteers from North Central Women’s League will collect donations, sort dresses and work at the annual event, helping make prom an affordable and memorable event for all.

Upward Foundation

Upward is dedicated to serving severely disabled and/or medically fragile children and their families. At Upward, we make skills development, learning and therapy fun. We are bringing hope and joy to the children we support and helping them achieve their highest potential.
