The Assistance League

Strengthening Communities Nationwide

Assistance League member volunteers offer a number of vital programs that help strengthen communities.  These programs vary across our 120 chapters based on the needs identified in each community.  While the majority of the programs focus on children and providing services such as school clothing, shoes, personal care items, school supplies and, in some chapters, dental services, Assistance League chapters offer programs and services that touch every age group.

Operation School Bell works with 140 high poverty K-8th grade schools in the Greater Phoenix Area to provide brand new clothing, shoes and other essentials children in need. Partner schools are visited by our 40ft mobile dressing centers, known as the Delivering Dreams buses throughout the school year. The buses are retrofitted to include shelves filled
with clothing, a waiting area, shoe fitting station and dressing rooms.

Eligible students are signed up for the program by school personnel and they are served during the school day on the schools' scheduled date. Students are fitted for appropriate sizes are able to try items on before making their final  selections.NCWL members enjoy making these children feel extra special by walking them through the process of finding their own school shoes and outfits.  With the help of our members, we are able to meet the Delivering Dream buses at various schools around the valley.  Not only do we enjoy helping the students, we enjoy assisting the Operation School Bell staff with the organization of the apparel and any other tasks that might be needed.
